Students have so many doubts like, "should we take breaks while studying?", "should we study late night", "day or night is better",... and so on. Today I will answer all of these questions.
Today, I am telling you 4 powerful tips to study smarter and efficiently.
1-Avoid Fluency Illusion
Let me tell you about the situation. Most you might have gone through it.
You have selected a topic to study. After reading it 3-4 times, you will think that you have mastered it completely, you have learned it thoroughly and then go to the next topic. But, at the time of the exam, you will not remember this, you might have forgotten it.
This is called Fluency Illusion.
At the time of your study, as the topic is constantly showing in front of you, your brain will start to create an illusion that you have learned it correctly. But, if we ask whether you learned it thoroughly, it will remain as a doubt.
To solve this problem, first read the topic 2-3 times. After that, close your book and then try to recall it 4-5 times. If you are able to recall it without any doubt, then you have learned it properly. Otherwise, you need to study once again.
If you do this, you can easily remember the topics during exams.
2-Spacing Effect
Let me tell you an example first. Consider, you need to walk 3 km a day. If you walk 3 km straight, it will be very hard and you will be really tired. But, instead of doing that, walk 1.5 km in the morning and 1.5 km in the evening. This makes your work easier.
Like that, if you need to study 4 hours a day, split it by 1 hour. If you study in this style, you will be able to remember 40%-50% more than your usual memory.
Because when you come back after taking a small break, you might have forgotten some parts that you studied earlier. Then you need to repeat it once again and it will stick to your mind for a long time.
As you know, we might remember the starting scenes and climax scenes of all movies. But, it will be hard to remember the scenes in the center part. This is because our brain can concentrate more on starting and ending.
This same principle is used here. If you take more certain breaks, it will make your study more efficient.
3-Test Yourself and Teach Others
We use to study a lot. But, we forget a lot of them. To avoid this, you have to be a master in all of your subjects. To do it, there are two steps.
1-Test Yourself
Make a test paper by yourself just after you complete your study.
Close your books or keep it aside. Then just ask yourself some questions and try to write down the answers.
2-Teach Others
If you want to teach others anything, then, first you need to learn it correctly.
So just teach your family members what you have studied, maybe your mom, dad or brothers. If you can explain it to them properly, then you have learned it precisely. Otherwise, you need to study it once again.
These two steps will help you to master all subjects.
4-Sleep is Indeed
An experiment was held with two groups of students.
The two groups were asked to learn a same topic in the same amount of time. After the time was over, the first group was asked to take a nap. But the second group was not allowed to sleep.
After the nap, an exam was held with the learned topic.
Surprisingly, the students who took a nap scored more marks than others.
Now let's explain it scientifically. At the time of sleep, according to the REM sleep phase, the important pieces of information are stored in our brain and the unwanted pieces of information are thrown out.
Therefore you have to sleep at least 6 hours at night time.
Now you might have a doubt, studying in the morning or studying at night is better?
Actually, it mainly depends on your habits. If studying at night is more comfortable to you, then better choose that option. But, studying at the early morning will be more effective.
Conclusion
These 4 techniques will help you to study smart and will make your time count efficiently. I hope this article was useful to you. Let me know your opinions in the comments.
Thank you, have a nice day.
